Antenatal education

Prepare for feeding your baby with confidence. This session covers the essentials of infant feeding, including the benefits of breastfeeding for both parent and baby, and practical guidance on getting started.

What's included

  • Antenatal expressing (colostrum harvesting) — what it is, when it's appropriate, and how to do it safely
  • Medical conditions that may need a tailored plan, such as diabetes, PCOS, previous breast surgery, flat or inverted nipples, or a history of low supply
  • How to enter the postpartum period informed, prepared and supported

So much of the advice new parents receive about feeding starts after the baby arrives — often in the middle of the night, when you're exhausted. An antenatal session flips that. We sit down while you're still pregnant and walk through what the first hours and days of feeding actually look like, so nothing comes as a shock.

Because I'm a registered midwife and IBCLC, the session is tailored to your body and your history, not a generic class script. If you have a medical condition, previous breast surgery, or a feeding experience you'd like to go differently this time, we build a plan around that.

Sessions run for about an hour, in your home anywhere on the Northern Beaches or online if that's easier. Partners are welcome — two confident people are better than one.
